John Wayne (1907-1979) was an American film actor, director and producer. He was an Academy Award-winner, that was the biggest box office draw in the history of film making. He became an American icon that epitomized rugged masculinity. He was famous for his distinctive calm voice, walk, and height.
John Ford's Stagecoach (1939), was Wayne's biggest breakthrough making him an instant star. He went on to star in 142 pictures (primarily Westerns). Most of his work in Chatsworth was in the 1930s, before he attained star status. He made several films with Ray Corrigan playing one of the Three Mesquiteers.
