Lash LaRue (1921-1996) was a popular B-Western cowboy star during the 1940s and 1950s.
He was skilled with the use of a bullwhip which he used to take down bad guys (rumor has it that he taught Harrison Ford how to use a bullwhip for the Indiana Jones movies). He was an usual cowboy hero who dressed in all black and talked like a "big city tough-guy" (somewhat like that of Humphrey Bogart who he physically resembled).
His movie horse was a beautiful black quarter horse named Black Diamond (photo above).
